The Equinox Silent Elemental Retreat is a four-day immersive journey through silence and nature. The five elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether will lead the restoration of balance, clarity, and inner alignment at this potent turning point of the seasons. This retreat holds space for you to slow down, soften the nervous system, and remember the intelligence that lives in the silence.
Held in the nestling hills of Mafra, Portugal, Terra Sancta means “Sacred Land” in Latin and is far more than a venue. It is a living temple, pulsing with life, devoted to honouring and working with the elements. Intentionally designed by Francesca to host these curated retreats, each room is an altar devoted to an element. The space itself invites guests to embody its essence and energy.
Through shared elemental experiences and spacious integration, you’ll be supported to reconnect with your inner rhythms and the wisdom of the natural world.
The four days of this immersion are designed to focus on a specific elemental quality: grounding into Earth, flowing with Water, igniting with Fire, opening to Air, and expanding into Ether. Practices include movement, somatic awareness, sound journeys, meditation, ritual, elemental body-work, subtle energy work and creative expression.
As a guest, you will be provided with a beautiful workbook that guides you through the practices and to work with the elements. We gather daily and move into our inner exploration, together.
Nourishing, Ayurvedic-inspired meals support the process with an optional water fast on Day 3 for those who feel called.

Silence is one of the oldest medicines we have
Long before podcasts and notifications and the constant hum of modern life, humans entered silence intentionally to listen, to recalibrate, and to remember.
In today’s noisy world, silence has become rare and because it is rare, it is profoundly powerful.
A silent retreat is not simply the absence of speaking, it is the removal of stimulation. No performing, no explaining, no responding, purely being....the hearts true yearning.
In silence all masks fall away. Without conversation as a buffer, we meet ourselves directly. This can be uncomfortable at first as restlessness, mental chatter and old memories rise...but if we stay, the turbulence settles and what remains is clarity.
Silence is not suppression, it's spaciousness. It is where your inner guidance becomes audible, where your voice (the real one) begins to reorganise itself from the inside out.
In silence, you remember that you were never lost,
you were simply overstimulated.
And when you return to speaking after sacred silence, your words carry weight. They are embodied and they are true, becoming what others feel in your presence


Francesca Raffa is a Shamanic Practitioner & Embodiment Guide who works in deep attunement with the subtle field, serving as a clear vessel connected to Source.
Through sound frequencies, chanting and light language, she facilitates cellular-level shifts that support people to elevate their vibration, remember their essence, and return to themselves in wholeness, balance, and heart-centered living
Francesca has dedicated the last eight years to walking this path in lived devotion. What she sees in the world is this: too many people searching outside themselves, following others, forgetting how to resource their own inner wisdom.
Her work is a return to the simple, ancient technologies that restore liberation, sovereignty, silence, conscious nourishment, detoxification, ritual, and embodied presence.

The elements are not outside of us, they are the very architecture of our bodies, our emotions, our breath, our consciousness.
Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether live within your tissues, your nervous system, your instincts, your thoughts, and your spirit. When we work with the elements, we are not learning something new, we are remembering something ancient

When these elements are in harmony within us, we naturally return to coherence. When they are out of balance, we feel fragmented, disconnected, or lost in the noise of the mind.
Working with the elements is a direct path back to the Source within, the place of simplicity, presence, and inner knowing that exists before story, before identity, before effort.
Through embodied practices, silence, ritual, and deep listening, the elements guide you out of overthinking and back into felt experience, out of striving and back into remembering, out of separation and back into wholeness.
The elements take you home.
You will receive an in-depth workbook (yours to keep) guiding you to consciously work with the elements during and long after the retreat has closed. Each day, we will gather at devoted times for rituals, shamanic sound journeys, tea ceremonies, creative artistic exploration, embodied movement therapy, meditation and journaling. There will also be bodywork available, including elemental massage with an experienced therapist, to support deeper integration through the body.
No. Whether this is your first retreat or you have been walking this path for years, you are welcome. Come as you are, the work meets you there.
There will be optional 20 minute 1:1 check-ins daily for attendees to share what is moving and asking for integration. This will be with Francesca between the hours 3.30-6pm.
These spaces allow emotions, insights, resistance, grief, clarity or whatever is moving to be witnessed safely without breaking the depth of the silence field.
the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the space is paramount. In case of emergencies, silence can of course be broken at any time.
If you feel called to water fast on Day 3, it’s important that this choice comes from inner clarity rather than pressure, comparison, or intensity.
A water fast can deepen sensitivity, intuition, and elemental connection. It can also amplify what is already moving physically and emotionally.
Silence + fasting is potent, so it must be approached with reverence and responsibility.
Benefits of a 24 hour water fast
Just one day of fasting equates to clearing one full year of toxins in the body. After about 24–36 hours without food, the body begins increasing autophagy a process where damaged cells are broken down and recycled.
This process was extensively studied by Yoshinori Ohsumi, who received the Nobel Prize for his research on how cells renew themselves.

- Lower insulin levels
- Reduced bloating
- Decreased inflammation
- Greater sensitivity to foods afterward to help reset the gut
Here’s what you need to know:

2. Hydration is Essential
If you choose to water fast, you must:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day
- Add a pinch of natural salt to support mineral balance
- Rest more than usual
Not recommended for those:
- Pregnant or Breastfeeding
- Taking medications that require food (many do)
- Diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2) or blood sugar instability / hypoglycemia

The retreat takes place at Terra Sancta, a living temple devoted to the elements, located in the hills of Mafra Portugal and just 35 minutes from Lisbon Airport.
The land is quiet, powerful, and deeply supportive of inner work with views of rolling hills and luscious green meadows.
Closer to the retreat, we will create a shared travel thread so attendees can coordinate taxis or ride shares if desired.
The rooms are elemental-themed and thoughtfully designed. You will share space in a way that supports connection, unless otherwise specified.

Comfortable clothing for movement and rest, a journal, a water bottle, a shawl or wrap for ceremony, and any sacred items you wish to place on the altar. A detailed packing list will be sent before the retreat.
